The Recommendation restates the main issues in documentation supplied by clients and initial discussions including business need, key project aims, the central project issues, desired outcomes, and the project scope. As such, it is a draft proposal. The Recommendation facilitates two-way communication on corporate priorities and project scale. Projects can be Proof-of-Concept, Extension or Foundation.

Proof-of-Concept

Typically, Proof-of-Concept projects will have some of the following characteristics:

  • limited budget, longevity and scalability

Extension

Typically, Extension projects will provide:

  • additional functionality to the existing IT systems
  • software renewal fitting seamlessly into the existing infrastructure

Foundation

Typically, Foundation projects will:

  • form the back-bone of the IT Infrastructure
  • underpin a new enterprise or business venture
  • automate existing manual processes - "greenfields" project
